The Poet’s Den

The Lion Poet

We Lions have a little bit of class and occasually like to express ourselves in unusual ways. To that end I would like to share some of my poetry with you, and invite you to submit any pieces of work you might have to be posted here in the Poet’s Den. Just send it to [email protected] . The only requirement is that it be an original, honest, and a serious piece of work. There will be no "Man from Nantucket" here.

"A New Twas"
By Carpe Leo

Twas the night before, the night before Christmas, and all through the college,
all the programmers were programming and seeking the knowledge.

While I was at home, Emailing away,
I heard a loud noise, like the crashing of a sleigh.

And what to my blood shot eyes should appear,
but a cyber Santa, and 8 virtual reindeer.

He filled up my screen with his jolly fat face,
and said to me "Hey dude, how do I get out of this place?"

As I thought for a minute, to figure out what happened,
my virus scan kicked in, and started to zap him.

I quickly tried to close the program,
but too late, my Windows 98 was frozen.

I rebooted my computer, to see what would happen,
and too my amazement, Santa was laughing.

He said "I'm not a virus, to which you can fight,
and now that I've downloaded, it's time to take flight".

With a wink of his eye, and a finger up his nose,
I finally found out how Santa Clause goes.

If you wonder how Santa gets around in one night,
he uses the switches and routers of the internet, that's right!

So forget hanging your stockings over the fire with care,
hang them on your monitor, if you dare!

And, of course, I turned up my speakers as he disappeared from sight,
to hear him say "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night"!
